116812 on 101010

On 10.10.10, a total of 116,812 runners crossed the finish line of which could be the world's biggest fun-run! And yes, we (me, husband and a group of friends) were part of it! But more than setting a world-record, the race was in support of the rehabilitaiton of the Pasig River- a very noble cause which we all support.

It was not the best time for me, and I apologize to my husband for dragging his time too. He insisted that we run together since we both were out of practice prior to the race. An idea which we would realize was excellent as we neared the finish line and saw the massive crowd! It would have been difficult to search for each other in that crowd, especially that we do not run with phones!

Bad time or not, it was for an advocacy so important to me personally. And I am proud. I hope that the seven-year rehabilation plan of the Pasig River comes about and spills over some attention to the other rivers in our country which need cleaning-up too.

Congratulations to all finishers and organizers! Now, real work begins. Let us all do our share.

Saving the Pasig River - Pointers from a 7-year old kid

In your own little way, what can you do to help clean the Pasig River?

1. Don't throw trash.
2. Get a big net and get the trash.
3. Don't spit your saliva.
4. Give money to the PRRC.*
5. Don't pee in the river.
6. Don't make poop in the river.

Mabuhay ang Mabuting Pilipino

Please allow me to borrow that tag line from PNoy's poster along Edsa. I just have to pay tribute and say my thank you to the helpful men who have assisted me last Wednesday PM (August 11, 2010) when I had a serious car problem on the road.

I say Mabuhay to the traffic enforcers along McKinley road who allowed me to make an emergency u-turn so I could reach a gasoline station on time!

I say Mabuhay to the MMDAs stationed at the Shell gasolnie station in McKinley (Forbes) for assisting me and patiently explaining to me what could be the probable cause of the problem. Thanks to you and mabuhay to you, Officer Berenguer and company!

I say Mabuhay to the gasoline attendant who brought water and helped the MMDA gentlemen and me!

Mabuhay ang mabuting Pilipinong katulad ninyo! There are lots out there, I know.

Walang WangWang

Chanced upon P-Noy's entourage enroute Fort Bonifacio this morning. Wala ngang wang-wang! Instead, lots of blinkers, flashing red and blue lights from all types of vehicles - motorcycles, 4x4, police cars, and ambulance.

There was even a special mention of my car! Because I was to turn left and use the lane that the police was clearing for the entourage. "Yung CRV, kanan, kanan!" Hah! So, I stayed on my lane then in seconds the Presidential car passed me by. It was the same Mercedes Benz used at the inauguration rites last June 30, with plate "1". The tint was too dark that I could not even make out a figure.

I guess P-Noy did not want to be late for his appointment again! Whereas in the past, he dutifully followed traffic rules and got stuck in a jam, there is now an advanced party of police motorcycles to clear way for him. This I think is the smartest to do without compromising his security-- and his schedule =D.

But in fairness and true to his word "walang wangwang", "walang counter flow".

PLC

Last Sunday's homily at the mass stuck in my mind.

PLC are the three elements of love:
1. Presence (P): One has to be present (or be available) to be able to give and get love. True! true!
2. Listen (L): The best way to communicate is to listen. Then you will understand.
3. Contemplate (C): After listening, you contemplate on an action.

Coincidentally, PLC is the love of my life ;D

JolliGlee!

Last Wednesday (May 19), while watching an episode of Glee where Artie had a dream sequence where he got up from his wheelchair to dance in a mall, my 7-year old son innocently blurted out, "Hey, did you see Jollibee?". And knowing my son's keen penchant for details, I knew that he couldn't have been wrong. So we, husband, older son and me, watched intently-- and yes! there it was! a Jollibee branch in the background!

The episode was entitled "Dream On". Artie and a bunch of teenagers performed a dance number filmed in a mall in Los Angeles, California (I believe!). What a cameo for the Bee! We were all pleasantly surprised!

Talk about dreams coming true! Even more wonderful if it comes unexpectedly.

An 11-K Valentine's

11-K... as in kilometers... wish it was carats?!! It was romantic nonetheless. And as my friends put it "how sweat!"

Hubby and I started Valentine's Day quite early-- woke up at 4AM, on the road by 5AM, and was at the race venue by 5.30AM. Whew! Gun off was at 6AM, and we were there pumped up and awake. We trekked, hiked, trailed, ran, walked, ran, ran... Quite an interesting change from the city races we have been to. I enjoyed the change of scenery and pace. But not the climbs and the slides-- leg killers! Most exciting was the fact that this was a race for couples! So, hubby and I ran and trekked side by side all through out. Now, I really think that was sweet and sweat. I surprisingly enjoyed doing this trail run because of the Valentino factor.
